Dr.
Luke Dang, M.D., Ph.D, is a board-certified dermatopathologist with
additional board certifications in anatomic and clinical pathology. He
is committed to providing a precise and accurate diagnosis to each
patient to ensure optimal dermatologic care.
Dr. Dang graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a B.A.
in Biology and Chemistry. He continued his training as a
physician-scientist at the University of Washington, where he obtained
his M.D. as well as a Ph.D in Molecular and Cellular Biology.
He completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the
University of California, Davis, where he also served as Chief Resident.
He then returned to the University of Washington for subspecialty
training in dermatopathology.
Dr. Dang's strong interest in the molecular mechanism of disease led him
to conduct translational research throughout his medical and graduate
training. His undergraduate research investigated the complex molecular
mechanism of von Willebrand Factor multimerization.
At the University of Washington, Dr. Dang pursued his long-standing
interest in protein structure and function at the Institute for Protein
Design, under the mentorship of Dr. David Baker (2024 Nobel laureate in
Chemistry). His graduate research utilized computational
protein design methods to engineer repeat proteins as high-affinity,
sub-type specific binders against Frizzled receptors for the modulation
of the Wnt signaling pathway. During residency, he published on a range
of topics including dermatopathology, clinical
chemistry, and machine learning. Dr. Dang has authored publications in
Nature, PNAS, Nature Molecular & Structural Biology, Cell Stem Cell,
and JBC, and is an inventor on patents related to applications of his
graduate research. He is also a member of the
American Society of Dermatopathology.
